POET; TV & RADIO PRESENTER; CULTURAL COMMENTATOR;

Literary phenomenon and "Godfather of Punk Poetry," Doctor John Cooper Clarke is a true British cult hero whose cultural influence spans literature, music, and fashion. Shooting to prominence in the 1970s, he captivated audiences with his unique style, clawing his way up from working men's clubs in his native Salford to become one of the most prolific figures in the punk movement. His early headline gigs were supported by future superstars like Joy Division and New Order, and he often played special guest to the Sex Pistols and The Clash.

John's seminal work includes the album Snap, Crackle and Bop and his first collection, 10 Years in an Open Necked Shirt, one of the best-selling poetry anthologies ever. His most iconic piece, "I Wanna Be Yours," recently celebrated over a billion streams as a hit record by the Arctic Monkeys, who, along with artists like The Sleaford Mods and Plan B, cite him as a major influence. His enduring relevance is further proven by his poetry featuring in the UK national curriculum and the global success of his recent best-selling memoir, also titled I Wanna Be Yours.

As relevant and brilliant as ever, John Cooper Clarke continues to impact contemporary pop culture, with his distinctive look influencing fashion and his sardonic wit filling his latest best-selling poetry collection, WHAT. His live show is a dynamic mix of classic verse, new material, hilarious ponderings on modern life, and honest gags. Watching John perform is an unmissable opportunity to see a living legend at his bold and brilliant best, recently becoming the first poet to headline an arena at Co-op Live in Manchester.

“One of Britain’s outstanding poets” - Sir Paul McCartney

“Fantastically entertaining. As a writer of comic prose Clarke is the match of anyone alive, and his turns of phrase are as sharp as his suits”- The Times
